Boston

So these will be just quick updates on our trip and I will give more detail when we get home. Flight was great, slept the whole way and woke up 30 min from landing. Got to Dave and Rada's house and crashed for a few hours. We headed over and got a mini tour of the USS Constitution AKA Old Ironsides. Really much smaller than I expected but cool all the same. There were thousands and thousands of jellyfish in the water next to the ship.
Walked threw some authentic old Italian parts of Boston and then found a corner pub and had a beer.
Took the subway to Fenway, got pictures of my first glimpse of the big monster and the Sox won and the Yanks lost so it was a day to remember. Thats the short and sweet.

Red Sox

So as many of you out there know Char has got us tickets to two Red Sox games at fenway next week for my birthday. Great girl huh! So I will be posting to the blog hopefully from our trip, so check in for updates. Sox and Indians on the 29th and then Red Sox vrs Yankees on June 2nd and my Uncle Donald and his nephew Danny are coming with us! Should be a boat load of fun! The picture is of me and my sister Jen many many years ago when I was just starting out as a Sox fan. I can remember the exact place I was sitting when Buckner let the ball threw his legs and Mookie Wilson can in to score for the Mets back in the day. Me and Pat had been practicing our baseball sliding on the wood floor between the kitchen and the living room and I sat on the corner of the brick to watch the end of the game. I remember Marve Alberts voice CLEARLY. As well I remember once I moved down from Seattle and the Sox were playing the Yanks in the 2004 playoffs and I was watching the games on my laptop in class because I was living at home at the time and my Mom wouldnt let me miss school. Finally when it came down to the World series against the Cards she told me I didnt have to go to class and we watched the game and talked to Donald on the phone periodically. Anyway, yeah I love the Sox!

Summer Days

So today we are watching are friends baby named Paige. Char watches her once in a while and I help when I can. Here are a couple nice pictures from our day at the pool. Who wants to come over tomorrow for my repeat lunch! I call it my all American meal. I was in the pool with Paige and Cash, both trying to figure out if they like the water or not.

The white bike is again a single speed but a little bigger frame. I rode this bike most of last summer from my house to downtown on the American River Bike Trail.

Melt Banana @ Blue Lamp Sacramento

So once again Char comes threw with a great recommendation on a show. She saw these guys with Sissy a few years ago opening for a Mike Patton project, go figure, and ended up liking them enough to convince me to go check them out.
Brian McKenna put the show on so I kinda had a good idea it would be fun. Mike Watt opened for them and was kinda a straight up rock and blues feel with some great gravely throws vocally. Really great band behind him and I would see him again.
Melt banana took the stage with presence. The vocalist could only be described as bursts of lyrics coming in a rapid delivery. She sang in English but obviously it was broken Japanese/English. Which only made it better in my opinion. Super high energy, great control of a really loud sound. You know how some bands are loud and just loud. They were loud and collected I guess you could say. Anyway, overall it was a great show and I would see them again in a heartbeat.

Coachella

Well the drive was he worst part of the trip. 9 1/2 hours to Chris and Natalies in Santa Monica. We just chilled there and had dinner and a few drinks. It was great to see some old friends I hadn't seen in some time. Its nice to see people who kow you for more than just a few years, it makes things seem as they should be. We got up early (kinda) and headed east on hwy 10 and got to Indio around 1 oclock. As allways you see people from Sac everywere you go, we pull up and its Brian McCenna parked next to us and we have a little tailgate with some Cazadores and beers. The will call line was pretty insane but Char snuck into it and we only had to wait for about an hour. We saw Katie, Karl, Banno and some other friends while waiting in line. At first we jus got our maps and schedules and watched Perry Farells new bad band. Hot Chip, John Bjorn and john and who knows who else. Day one was kinda a blur because we were so tired from driving and the 108 degree temp.
We ended up camping off site for $15 a night and they had a pool, nice showers and ice! It was the best decision we made the whole trip. Day two included Regina Spector, Peeping Tom, Amy Whinehouse, Good Bad and the Queen, Red Hot Chilli Peppersand so many others. Peepeing Tom was my favorite from the entire trip. Absolutely amazing and Danny Devito introduced them to boot. Oh yeah and I ran into my old nieghbor Amber at the beer garden!
On day three we had about had it from the heat and we sat in a coffee house and talked Amerian politics with these nice guys from Sweeden. We got beers and Vodka at a grocery store and went and hit the parking lot!Well we ended up sitting in the parking lot for a couple hours just hiding from the heat and having some cold ones. When we made it in we headed over to get food and we ended up getting VIP bracelets from the pizza guys! So we watched MAnu Chow and Rage Against the Machine from thi amazing vantage point and had no lines for drinks! Needless to say I ended up drinking a wink to much, and slept outside our tent in the dirt! I deserved it for sure.
All in all we had a great time and would buy tickets for next year!
